Freedom of the Press

Freedom of the Press

Project Description

Freedom of the press is enshrined in the First Amendment of the US Constitution, but in some other countries journalists are unfamiliar with the concept and practices of an unfettered press.

Jeanne traveled to Uzbekistan, a former republic of the Soviet Union, to discuss US press coverage of Congress with members of Uzbekistan’s Parliament and media. The session, sponsored by the National Democratic Institute, was followed by an interactive workshop with representatives of the press.
